Tips for Taking Care of your Teeth in the Winter
As the winter season approaches, it’s important to pay extra attention to your dental health. The colder temperatures and changes in routine can have a significant impact on your oral hygiene. Here are some tips you can follow:
-Stay hydrated to combat dry mouth, so drink plenty of water and avoid excess caffeine and alcohol, because they can further contribute to dehydration and worsen dry mouth.
-Use a humidifier, which adds moisture to the air. This can help alleviate dryness and provide relief for dry mouth symptoms.
-Brush and floss regularly. Brush twice a day, floss daily, and use antimicrobial mouthwash.
-Protect your teeth from cold sensitivity by using a desensitizing toothpaste. These toothpastes contain ingredients that help block the sensation of pain caused by cold stimuli.
-Avoid extreme temperature changes inside your mouth by not consuming extremely hot or cold foods or drinks. Allow them to reach room temperature before consuming.
-Wear a scarf or mask when going outside in chilly weather to protect your teeth from direct exposure to cold air.
-Limit sugary snacks and beverages, as they contribute to tooth decay. Opt for healthier alternatives like fruits, vegetables, and nuts.
-Schedule regular dental check-ups because they are vital for maintaining optimal oral health throughout the year, especially during the winter season.
Your Insurance Benefits are Almost Gone!
For most insurance plans, December is the last month to use up any remaining benefits you might have. Take advantage of what insurance benefits you have left, while you still have them until the end of this month. If you are unsure what you have left, or whether or not you are still eligible, just give us a call and we will be happy to answer any questions and schedule your next appointment.
